Slobodan Milosavljevic says he is "satisfied with the results in the first 100 days of the new cabinet". The agriculture minister said in a statement to Tanjug Friday his ministry performed well in the said period and that it has continued and even intensified the negotiations with the European Union (EU) in the area of agriculture. Agriculture minister: Talks with EU "stepped up" Activities have also begun on drafting a strategy for the development of agricultural production, and suggestions and opinions are being canvassed from large numbers of experts, business community, associations, and agricultural manufacturers, Milosavljevic said. The minister also listed as a major success the fact a European model of subsidies in agricultural production was applied for the first time, namely, registered agricultural households received 100 euros per hectare of arable land from the budget. Furthermore, a contract has been signed with the World Bank on a credit worth EUR 62.5mn, including 50mn for water management and projects for irrigation systems and forming accumulations. This should lessen the dependence of primary agricultural production on the increasingly expressed climatic changes. In the past three months, a set of laws has also been drafted, which should soon be taken into procedure by the parliament. The laws will be of importance not only for agriculture, but also for the degree in which Serbia is adapting to European standards, Milosavljevic said. The government ministers are expected to each present the results of their respective ministries in the coming period.
