New disaster hits Serbian rivers
President of the local fishing association Živojin Karaičić said that the dead fish can be seen floating in the river in a stretch of five kilometres between the bridge located near the local health care centre and the river junction in the neighboring town of Đetinje.Karaičić said that the cause of the plague is not yet known, adding that the water level of the river is considerably low.
There are no factories or industrial zones located near the river.
Environmental inspectors are expected to survey the location today.
A series of toxic spills this month caused tens of tons of fish to die in several Serbian rivers. Industrial pollution was identified as the cause of the disasters in all previous cases.
