Wildfires under control
Areas around Svrljig, Rtanj and Bela Palanka were still in danger of the flames, where a Russian firefighting plane has been extinguishing fires since the morning Thursday, Director of Forest Management at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Aleksandar Vasiljević told reporters. The situation was under control in Deliblato Sands, and around 300 people were in the field, he said.
Vasiljević warned that there was a danger of new fires, if the heat wave continued.
Some 90 percent of the areas destroyed in wildfires were privately owned, however, Srbijašume was participating in extinguishing those fires as well.
The company noted that human negligence caused the fires in most cases.
