Radicals announce posting Mladić street signs

The AVNOJ Boulevard in Novi Belgrade will soon be renamed into the Zoran Đinđić Boulevard since the Serbian government gave the green light to the initiative.

SRS deputy Dragan Todorović displayed the Mladić plaque at today’s session of the Serbian Parliament, saying that an act of showing and posting these signs did not run against the law and cannot account for the arrests.

SRS caucus chief Tomislav Nikolić said that those who pasted the signs were arrested on charges that they were disturbing the citizens, even though the citizens, according to him, did not object to it.

“I wonder why police did not arrest those who started a petition to rename the AVNOJ Boulevard into Zoran Đinđić Boulevard,” Nikolić said.

After having been presented with the petition at the end of 2006, the City of Belgrade launched an initiative to rename the AVNOJ Boulevard, as newly-appointed minister of public administration and self-government Milan Marković approved the proposal last week.
