Microsoft releases piracy figures

While large and medium enterprises operate legal software on a level similar to that found in developed economies, between 70 and 75 percent of companies with up to 10 computers have illegal Microsoft operating systems installed on them, according to Otašević.

The process of legalizing various versions of Microsoft operating systems started five years ago, when 99 percent of the corporation’s software used in Serbia was illegal.

Otašević said the software legalizing process in Serbia went faster than in the regional countries and was comparable to that in Romania, where Microsoft has had its office for the past ten years.
