Busek: ICJ ruling is political

“The judgment is political in nature. To establish that the Srebrenica genocide occurred and then say that Serbia was not accountable, knowing that Ratko Mladić was an active Yugoslav Army officer at the time, is just not right”, Busek told the Sarajevo daily Dnevni Avaz.

Busek stressed that in his opinion, failing to prevent something from happening was the same as making it happen.

However, speaking of the consequences the ruling will have for the region, Busek said that the judgment in its entirety would bring about positive changes to the region.

He leveled against the comments coming from Belgrade after the . The Serbian Parliament refused to adopt a resolution by means of which it would condemn and apologize for the Sebrenica genocide, which I see as a problem and a mistake on the part of Belgrade”, Busek argued.

“Serbia has to live with its history. Even though my parents fought against the Nazis, I had to suffer the consequences of the WWII given the fact that I’m an Austrian citizen”, Busek concluded
