“Serbia prone to repeat mistakes”

“Do you recall the terms of the Rambouillet peace agreement Milošević refused to sign? Do you recall what was on the table back then and what we have discarded?”, Petrović asked adding that the world sent messages to appeal to Serbia’s common sense, and Serbia refused to listen.

“We were offered reasonable solutions and agreements we deemed humiliating. In retrospect, we would now give a nod to such solutions”, Petrović argued adding that Serbia eventually gave way to everything it once strongly opposed. “Milošević refused to step down from power and was later ousted. Milošević refused to give Kosovo away, so the international community took it itself”, Petrović stressed.

Petrovic asserts that Serbia continue to be obstinate, even though it is obvious that each new offer is worse than the one that preceeded it. “The world sends clear messages Serbia chose to overlook”, Petrović said. “We are prone to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. A few days ago US Deputy State Secretary Daniel Fried clearly said on behalf of the US that Serbia has to choose between a European future and isolation, in the process of the finalization of Kosovo's status”, Petrović concluded.
