“We call on all Kosovo security forces to join us in this demonstration since it turned out the promises politicians made were illusions”, Kurti said, asking the pensioners, the unemployed and the students to join the event.

Meanwhile, official Priština is busy preparing for the final round of Vienna talks.

Kosovo president Fatmir Sejdiu said the negotiating team accepted the proposal, adding that “Kosovo was in the last phase of determining its status”.

Prime minister Agim Ceku addressed the lawmakers in the assembly session by saying the time had come to “accept the minorities as an integral part of Kosovo society”.

“We need to give them special assurances that nothing bad will happen to them in the independent state of Kosovo”, Ceku said.

ORA party leader Veton Surroi told the assembly that the future international presence in Kosovo will not, as some believe, be invisible.

“That presence will have the power to intervene and will have the rule of law in its hands. That presence will to a large extent manifest a lack of trust in Kosovo’s institutions when it comes to law and order”, Surroi said.
