Consultations on cabinet to continue

“The President is likely to confirm that in the course of consultations he was not presented with an option for a future PM who could secure a majority in Parliament and form the cabinet”, Blic daily learned from an unnamed DS official.

According the daily’s source, Tadić will set a time-limit for all parties to carry out mutual consultations in order to reach an agreement. Afterwards he will organize a fresh round of consultations and come before the Serbian Assembly to propose Božidar Đelić as the new Prime Minister.

“If Đelić fails to provide a parliamentary majority, new elections will be announced”, the same source said.

The Democratic Party proposed its candidate for the PM post, and the coalition of parties gathered around the LDP backed that proposal, the source reminded Blic. Other parties remained silent in regards to their candidate proposal.

President of the Coalition of  Preševo Valley Albanians Riza Halimi said that the coalition will offer support to a pro-European Serbian government and to the DS candidate for prime minister.

Jožef Kasa, leader of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, also expressed support for a democratically-oriented government, and maintained that the Democratic Party (DS) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) should reach an agreement.
