Deadline for campaign spending reports
The parties will get the total of 259 million dinars for the campaign. All lists featured in the electoral ballots have received from the budget 3.2 million dinars each at the end of the election campaign on January 17. The remaining funds will be divided in proportion to the number of seats won in the parliament.The law provides that parties can also finance their campaign out of private funds, but the amount cannot surpass 20 per cent of the means that they are getting from the budget.
The law proscribes that RIK controls financial means and it can also engage authorized auditors for the purpose. RIK is supposed to check and verify the reports within 90 days since the submission of the data, and it is also obliged to publish its control report in the “Official Gazette” of Serbia.
Penalties are also proscribed if the law has not been obeyed, ranging from 200,000 dinars to one million dinars for the parties and from 10,000 to 50,000 dinars for authorized individuals.
Proposed law on changes of the Law on financing of political parties is in the assembly procedure. That proposal provides that the Agency against corruption should get take over competences from the RIK and the Financing Committee of the Serbian Assembly regarding the control of the financing of the parties and of the parties' funds in the elections campaign.
