Ahtisaari’s office won’t confirm further talks

Responding to unofficial announcements from NATO and the EU that negotiations could continue after the status proposal has been submitted to the parties, officials in Priština have said they were opposed to such a move, adding that they had “nothing further to talk about with Belgrade”.

“There’s no reason to talk to Serbia about Kosovo’s status. We cannot negotiate the subject of independence, while I believe we have solved the technical issues”, Ceku’s spokeswoman Ulpiana Lama told journalists.

She added Ceku’s cabinet expected U.S. Priština office chief Tina Kaidanow to provide insight into Nicholas Burns’ recent statement on the possibility of new negotiations between Belgrade and Priština.

Kosovo negotiating team will meet next week to formulate its position on the subject.
