Visa relaxation talks begin today

“In this first technical round we do not expect much from the discussions, there will be a lot of talk about the contents of the agreements for visa relaxations and readmission.” Miščević said.

She said that the discussions are expected to be completed within the first half of 2007.

Asked if yesterday’s decision to allow Serbia to join the NATO Partnership for Peace could speed up the visa discussion process, Miščević said that this will not directly effect the discussions.

“This is a matter of security, but military security, in one case, and in other case the security of every individual, the security of the borders. I think that the decision regarding the Partnership will not affect the process of these discussions, and I do not think it will have much effect in speed up the process.” Miščević said.
