Top students to receive laptops
Even if some of them had perfect grade-point averages, some said that not much effort was involved in achieving such high results. Some of these students now work at the universities, while others who were officially the best students, remain jobless.Since young people receive opportunities easier abroad than in Serbia, the Serbian Government and the Education Ministry, along with the universities, have developed a strategy to convince young people to stay and work in Serbia.
“Our strategy is to have as many of them as possible finish their studies abroad, and then return here and help their country.” Deputy Education Minister Vesna Fila said.
The Serbian Government offers scholarships every year to students continuing their studies abroad, with the obligation that they must return to Serbia once the studies are completed.
Serbian Education Minister Slobodan Vuksanović said that the ministry has set aside ten million euros for the Fund for Talented Young People, and will set aside 14 million euros next year.
“All students who receive honors in domestic and international competitions, as well as all excellent students, will be able to expect equally good scholarships.” Vuksanović said.
