Alitalia plane forced to land in Belgrade

The plane, which was flying from Rome to Sofia, made an emergency landing at Nikola Tesla airport in Belgrade because there was noticeable amounts of smoking in the airplane passenger section.

“The passengers were taken yesterday to Hotel Slavija and they are waiting there to see what will happen next. They are waiting for the plane to get repaired so that they can continue on the same plane to their final destination.” Belgrade airport’s Deputy General Director Goran Kaličanin said.

He said that Jat mechanics are assisting the Alitalia crew in making the repairs.

Goran Kaličanin added that the Belgrade airport took care of the passengers transportation to the hotel and will be making sure that they all get back to the airport once the aircraft has been repaired.
