Turkey buys S-400 air defense missile systems from Russia

Turkey has signed a contract with Russia to buy S-400 air defense missile systems, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

Beta reported this on Tuesday citing Turkish media.

The deal represents the biggest contract of the kind to date that Ankara, a NATO member, has signed with Russia.

Erdogan also said that, as far as he was aware, the first down payment had been transferred to Moscow.
