U.S. vice president says his country "stands with Ukraine"

He also encouraged them "to fight against the cancer of corruption" within their ruling system.

In addition, Biden said that the U.S. was "ready to help Ukraine to become energy independent instead of relying on energy supplies from Russia."

According to reports, the U.S. official on Monday began his two-day visit to Ukraine " to demonstrate U.S. commitment to the country and encourage urgent implementing an international agreement aimed at alleviating tensions in the country."
