A DeutschlandTrend survey revealed that as many as 40 percent of Germans said EU membership brought benefits, marking the highest level ever recorded, AFP said.

19 percent said Germany's membership was leading to disadvantages, while 39 percent said benefits and disadvantages were balanced.

Ten years ago, a polls showed that only 21 percent of Germans believed that belonging to the bloc was beneficial for their country.
