Israeli Air Force jets overnight for the third day in a row attacked targets in the Gaza Strip, wounding four Palestinians. This is according to doctors and security officials in the Hamas-ruled territory. Israel retaliates after Palestinians attack from Gaza They said that three sites were targeted - two in the Gaza city and a third in Khan Younis. All three targets were locations used by either Hamas or other militant Palestinian organizations. The previous night, Israel's jets attacked smuggling tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip, and another in the north used to infiltrate militants into Israeli territory. The Israeli military, IDF, said that they held Hamas responsible for the rocket fire. The latest round of retaliatory attacks came after southern areas of Israel once again came under fire from Palestinians, who in the past day launched six qassam rockets from Gaza. No one was hurt in the incidents as the missiles exploded in open areas, but the development is seen as the fist significant escalation of violence since April, when Palestinians targeted an Israeli school bus, killing a boy and injuring others. Israel responded at the time with a series of airstrikes that killed at least 19 Palestinians - in what proved to be the deadliest spate of violence in the southern areas since Israel's offensive of late 2008 and early 2009.
