The participants of the NATO-Russian Council meeting in Sochi have discussed the current situation in Libya, RIA Novosti reported. The Russian news agency was quoting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who spoke to journalists on Monday. NATO-Russia Council discusses Libya "This is justified because the strategic conception accepted by NATO recently says that NATO will respect international law and the decisions (made) by the UN Security Council." Libya has been rocked with anti-Gaddafi protests since mid-February. The international military operation began on March 19 following a UN resolution and was extended until late September. UN Security Council Resolution 1970, passed in February, prohibited states from providing any kind of arms to Libya.
