Libya’s government accepts peace roadmap

Libya’s government has announced it is ready to accept a roadmap for resolving the country’s crisis as proposed by a group of African Union envoys. Muammar Gaddafi played host to the diplomatic delegation which included South Africa’s President,, Jacob Zuma. The aim of the meeting in Tripoli was to arrange a ceasefire between rebel forces and those loyal to the Libyan leader. The delegation is due to meet with rebel representatives later in Benghazi. It was Gaddafi’s first appearance in front of the foreign media in weeks. He seems to have strong support in the Libyan capital but so far opposition forces have refused to discuss a ceasefire without his removal, along with that of the rest of his family.
