A London court has decided that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange should be extradited to Sweden to face charges for alleged sexual abuse of two Swedish women. Assange was arrested on December 7 in London and has been in home arrest pending the court ruling. WikiLeaks founder to be extradited to Sweden During the hearing, which was held earlier this month, the WikiLeaks founder’s attorneys argued that Swedish prosecutors had made a mistake by filing an extradition request, while the Swedish government pointed out that it had requested Assange’s extradition only after it had unsuccessfully tried to question him several times. Assange and his supporters claim that the case against him is full of irregularities and some even believe that it is a U.S. conspiracy aimed at putting the 39-year-old Australian behind bars and discrediting him for releasing confidential U.S. cables. Lawyers of the two Swedish women, who Assange allegedly sexually harassed during his stay in Sweden in August 2010, and the Swedish authorities have denied the allegations. One of the women has accused him of ignoring her request to use a condom and the other one says Assange had sex with her while she was asleep, without using a condom. Julian Assange (Beta, file)
