WikiLeaks has released over 250,000 documents that expose "candid views of foreign leaders", euronews reports; some mention Kosovo. The leaked documents - secret messages sent by American embassies - also contain sensitive information on terrorism and nuclear proliferation, according to this. Wikileaks releases U.S. secret messages The BBC says that the information concerns "reports of some Arab leaders - including the Saudi king - urging the U.S. to attack Iran and end its nuclear weapons program, corruption within the Afghan government, close relationship between Russian and Italian PMs Vladimir Putin and Silvio Berlusconi, alleged links between the Russian government and organized crime". Another document highlighted by the BBC relates to "bargaining to empty the Guantanamo Bay prison camp - including Slovenian diplomats being told to take in a freed prisoner if they wanted to secure a meeting with President Barack Obama". One of the cables, published by the guardian.co.uk, mentions the situation in Kosovo and Serbian FM Vuk Jeremic. WikiLeaks announced earlier today that it was coming under a DDoS attack, but that "El Pais, Le Monde, Speigel, Guardian & NYT will publish many U.S. embassy cables tonight, even if WikiLeaks goes down". Reports said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton together with American ambassadors have been urgently contacting foreign officials over the past few days to warn them of the disclosures. U.S. officials said releasing the classified information was a “reckless and dangerous action” which risked endangered lives and hurting relations with its allies. Earlier, reports said that the U.S. State Department warned the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks that its expected release of classified U.S. documents will endanger "countless" lives, jeopardize U.S. counter-terrorism operations, and hurt international cooperation on global security issues.
