A German doctor who has been accused of sending 900 children to their deaths during World War II has received a top medical honor in Germany. Dr. Hans-Joachim Sewering, 92, who allegedly sent 900 children to Eglfing-Haar -- where physically and mentally handicapped children were allegedly executed -- was honored for "services to the nation's health system," The Telegraph reported Monday. Alleged Nazi criminal honored Sewering, who has denied the allegations, later served as head of Germany's doctors' association. Sewering has been the target of a U.S. doctor's campaign to have the former SS member prosecuted on the allegations. "I would like the German medical profession to recognize that they have a stain on their honor by his continued presence," Dr. Michael Franzblau said of Sewering.
