Komercijalna, B92 Fund donate IT equipment to hospital

With this donation, the campaign joined the "Baby, welcome to the world" project initiated the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government. The aim of this project is to provide the parents of newborn children with a one-stop service to receive their child's birth certificate, as well as register its residence, and apply for health insurance.

"It is a great honor to be here today and to have participated in this project. The 'Together for the Babies' campaign has so far raised more than RSD 50 million and this sum is a reflection of the trust that our clients have in their bank," said Komercijalna CEO Alexander Picker, and added:

"The expansion of our campaign is proof that we made the right decision more than two years ago to, together with the B92 Fund, raise the funds for the reconstruction of maternity hospitals, and we are extremely pleased that the scope of our joint work is expanding and what we are able to help more people and institutions."

The Komercijalna/B92 Fund campaign has set aside more than a million dinars (RSD) for this project in order to acquire a total of 24 computers, 24 monitors, 24 smart card readers and 16 printers. This equipment has been donated to nine registrar offices in seven cities (Belgrade, Sremska Mitrovica, Nis, Jagodina, Uzice, Sombor and Loznica), as well as to 13 maternity wards in 13 cities (Tutin, Priboj, Prijepolje, Knjazevac, Majdanpek, Zajecar, Aleksinac, Kraljevo , Presevo, Petrovac, Vranje, Surdulica and Belgrade).

"The B92 Fund is always on the front lines when it comes to initiating and creating better conditions in which our kids come into the world," said the fund's board of directors president, Veran Matic, and added:

"Therefore, we are very proud to now be in a position to contribute to the process of implementing and improvibg a very important system procedure that is beneficial in multiple ways. Special thanks go to Komercijalna Bank, which is our permanent partner in the 'Together for the Babies' campaign, and which, in this new undertaking, stepped up and provided the resources for the successful implementation of the project 'Baby, welcome to the world'."

The previous practice of registering a newborn with the municipal administration meant that both parents had to set aside at least seven hours and pay administrative fees. With the introduction of electronic systems in hospitals the procedure lasts 10-15 minutes and at no cost to the parents, enabling at the same time huge savings (about RSD 42 million a year in costs incurred by parents) and in work hours (400,000 hours per year for parents and 15-30,000 hours for the state).

Since April 2016, 13 health care institutions started to implement the new electronic system. In order to introduce it in all the remaining hospitals and municipalities, it is essential to equip them with the necessary technical equipment consisting of computers, monitors, printers and the appropriate operating system, and the money donated in the "Together for the Babies" campaign has been used to this end.

"In the spirit of modernizing the conditions at the clinic, I welcome this initiative and would like to thank the B92 Fund and Komercijalna Banka for their support. This is not the first, and hopefully not the last time that the need for continuous improvement of the work processes has been recognized, as well as the fact that patients deserve better service and greater comfort. On this occasion, I wish to thank the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government for the incentives and the common fight which aims at increasing the birth rate," said Professor Doctor Snezana Rakix, Acting Director of the GAK Narodni Front.

The ceremony today was also attended by state secretaries with the Ministry of State Administration and the Ministry of Health, Milos Popovic and Professor Doctor Berislav Vekic, respectively.

The campaign "Together for babies" began on June 1, 2014 with Komercijalna donating one dinar for each payment its clients make using POS terminals. The exact amount of the donated money is always accessible thanks to the transaction counter posted at the bank's website, kombank.com
