Serbia's men's water polo squad will play in the final of the Rio Olympics after beating Italy 10:8 (3:0, 3:2, 1:0, 3:6) late on Thursday European time.

Olympics: Serbia to clash with Croatia in water polo final

Croatia won the gold medal four years ago in London.

Serbia's water polo players have thus secured the sixth medal for their country.

Earlier in the day, the women's volleyball team secured the fifth by also progressing to the final.

The team beat the United States 3:2 (20:25, 25:17, 25:21, 16:25, 15:13) and will play for the gold against China, who beat the Netherlands in the second semifinal. The final match stats at 03:15 CET on Sunday.
