The police and the Serbian Army are patrolling along the borders, protecting our territory from illegal entries, Vulin told the RTS.

"The number is declining not because the refugee crisis is coming to an end but because we have introduced measures," Vulin said, adding that anyone who entered Serbian territory had the right to request asylum.

They will be accommodated at our centers and go through procedures, while those who do not request asylum will be returned to the countries where they had come from, he said.

Late on Sunday, Serbia's state broadcaster RTS reported that a group of 130 migrants had arrived at the Horgos crossing on Serbia's northern border with Hungary.

These refugees on Friday set out on foot from Belgrade and reached Novi Sad earlier on Sunday, from where they took a train to Subotica, a town near the border.

At a makeshift camp in Horgos, the migrants first lit candles for those killed in attacks in Kabul and Munich, and announced they were on a hunger strike.

There were about 650 people at Horgos yesterday who want to cross the border into Hungary and continue toward western European countries.

Hungary is preventing this and has visibly increased the number of police officers and soldiers deployed on its side of the border.
