Forecasters warn of heavy rain, possible flash floods

20 to 50 milliliters of precipitation are expected in most areas of central and southern Serbia during this period. Even more rain is forecast locally, especially in the east of the country.

Rain will subside on Wednesday, when an additional 20 milliliters are expected over a period of 12 hours in the south and in the east.

The RHMZ meteoalarm states that the north of the country does not need to be on standby, but that the warning applies to the rest of Serbia.

Thus, yellow alarm (potentially severe weather that is not unusual but requires caution) is in force in western, southeastern, and eastern Serbia, as well as in the Sumadija and Pomoravlje regions, while orange alarm (severe weather that could cause material damage and present danger for people and animals) has been declared in Kosovo and Metohija and the southwestern of the country.

RHMZ also said that water levels on a number of rivers could rise in the coming days, while minor flash flooding is expected locally.

Forecasters in Croatia and Slovenia have also warned citizens in these countries of the upcoming spell of bad weather that will last in the region until Thursday, bringing strong winds, rain, and thunderstorms.
