A UN official has commended Serbia's effort and progress in resolving the issues facing the Roma national minority, in comparison to the region.

UNHCR commends progress in solving Roma issues

Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Kori Udovički and Arboleda underlined the importance of the agreement of understanding that the ministry of justice and public administration in the previous government, Serbian Ombudsman and the UNHCR signed.

The agreement of understanding resulted in a series of activities such as trainings for judges and registrars for implementing legal arrangements, trainings for those working at social work centers and police departments, talks with members of the Roma national minority in an effort to inform them about the ways in which they can exercise their rights and other effects, Udovički's ministry said.
