Donor conference in Moscow raises nearly EUR 300,000

MOSCOW -- Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić attended a donor conference in Moscow which raised EUR 298,000 and one ultrasound scanner, the Defense Ministry said.

The aid will be used to repair of the consequences of the catastrophic floods that hit Serbia in May.

The Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation donated ten high-pressure pumps to Serbia, as well as 10 cisterns and 250 50-liter thermoses, the release states.

After the meeting with Russian businessmen, officials announced a donation to Kosjerić to the total value of EUR 100,000 and the construction of 17 houses for Obrenovac or the purchase of furniture and other inventory for all schools in the Belgrade municipality.

On behalf of the Serbian government, Gašić expressed gratitude to Russian citizens, leadership and also Serbian citizens working in Russia for the assistance they provided to Serbia, the release states.

Serbian Ambassador in Russia Slavenko Terzić also expressed gratitude to everyone who showed solidarity with Serbia and gathered 53 tons of humanitarian aid.

The donor conference was attended by First Deputy Chair of the Council of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Troshin, Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov and representatives of major Russian companies such as Gazprom, Lukoil and Russian Railways.
