The donation was paid through the sponsor of the kindergarten's reconstruction, the B92 Fund.
On this occasion, the fund's director, Veran Matić, and representatives Muehlbauer Ivan Milić and Martin Stevovski visited Svijalnac and presented a check to Mayor Predrag Milanović and the kindergarten's director, Zorica Đorđević.
According to Milanović, the first phase of repairs has already started, and involves clearing and preparation for the reconstruction of the facilities damaged during the catastrophic flooding in May.
"We owe big debt of gratitude to Veran Matić and the B92 Fund who had the sensibility and found the time and a way to help us. These are significant resources at this time, it will help us in the first phase of works, but won't be enough to repair everything. That's why I urge other donors to join the campaign and help children in Svijalnac have a kindergarten ready by the fall," the mayor said.
Matić emphasized that this was the first major campaign of the Fund when it came to the post-flood rebuilding efforts, and that the primary goal was to help the youngest.
"The restoration of the kindergarten takes a lot of resources, more than half a million euros, but I think that we can collect the money with the help of socially responsible companies, good people and individuals, and we already have more announcements of donations. Donors can deposit their donations through the site donacije.rs or can contact us directly," he explained.
Representatives of Muehlbauer said that the company, which is based in Germany and does its business in Serbia in Stara Pazova, has for many years engaged in CSR and was able to quickly and easily decide who to help. They also stressed that "other big companies will follow their example."
"The donation was made through the Joseph Muehlbauer Foundation, which was established in 2005 and which has so far realized a number of projects to help disadvantaged areas in Africa, Asia, and Europe. I hope we will in a few months all gather here to get to open the new kindergarten in Svilajnac," said Ivan Malić.
The value of the basic reconstruction without furniture and equipment is about half a million euros, and with 100,000 already raised, work will soon start on the first phase of repairs.
The Fund is calling on all people of good will, our diaspora, companies, institutions and individuals to donate to the restoration of this institution with contributions via the website http://www.donacije.rs
