Secretary General of the Serbian Olympic Committee Đorše Višacki wished luck to the athletes, and said:

“This it the end of the four-year Olympic venture we launched in Vancouver in 2010 and I wish that the athletes may represent Serbia in the right way. This is also an opportunity for Serbia's representatives to be a part of the world scene."

Taekwondo champion Milica Mandić who claimed the gold in the London Olympics delivered the flag of Serbia to Petrović.

“One of the athletic goals in my career was to wave the Serbian flag at the opening of the Olympic Games. This dream has come true,” Petrović said after the presentation of the Serbian Olympic team for the 2014 Winter Olympic in Sochi.

He underscored that he expects to qualify among the 30 best biathletes at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

“I reached the peak of my career this year but I believe I can do much more if the structures in the Ski Federation of Serbia and Biathlon Union of Serbia were to meet us halfway,” Petrović said and expressed gratitude to the Serbia's Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the support offered so far.

In December, Petrović won two gold medals in biathlon and one bronze in cross country at the Winter Universiade in Trentino.

Serbia's team at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, due to be held February 7-23, will comprise seven more athletes: Nevena Ignjatović and Marko Vukičević (alpine skiing), Ivana Kovačević, Rejhan Smrković (cross country and biathlon), Nina Micić (snowboard), Vuk Rađenović, and Aleksandar Bundalo (bobsled).
