BELGRADE Aleksandar Vucic is the most trusted "politician and statesman" in Serbia - according to a new public opinion poll. In addition, "most Serbians believe he should be the country's prime minister," the International Security Institute (ISI) and the Netherlands-based Center for European Security Studies (CESS) say their survey has shown. New poll says Vucic has highest rating among voters The deputy prime minister and leader of the ruling SNS party was supported by 42 percent of respondents, according to the results. He is followed by Tomislav Nikolic (26%), Ivica Dacic (15%), Boris Tadic (11%) and Dragan Djilas (9%). According to the statement issued by the ISI, Vucic also has "the least negative points," while 66 percent of Serbians think he should be the prime minister. At the same time 16 percent support PM Ivica Dacic in this role. The survey also found that 53 percent of Serbians think that early parliamentary elections should be called. If elections were held now, the SNS would win 38.6 percent, followed by the DS with 15.2 percent, the SPS with 9.4 percent, the LDP with 6.2 percent. The DSS would receive 5.3 percent of the vote. At the same time 37 percent of those who took part in the poll said they would "most likely not turn out to vote, or were certain they would not." According to the data presented, 53.7 percent of Serbia's citizens support the country's accession to the EU, while 18 percent support its membership in NATO. At the same time, 74 percent are against Kosovo's independence, while 18 percent said they were in favor.
