BELGRADE Tests performed in the Netherlands to determine the level of aflatoxin in milk in Serbia revealed that 31.25% percent of samples were within EU standards. That level is 0.05 micrograms per kilogram. None of the remaining samples exceeded the current Serbian maximum of 0.5 micrograms, it was announced on Wednesday. The ministry said that only those products that comply with EU aflatoxin M1 maximum levels will be sent back to stores, while the rest will be destroyed. Serbia two years ago reduced the allowed concentration of aflatoxin in milk from 0.5 to 0.05 micrograms, but reversed that decision earlier this month.
