Serbia has made a progress comparing the situation a year ago and the country ranks 63rd out of 179 countries in the press freedom index.

PARIS Serbia has made a progress comparing the situation a year ago and the country ranks 63rd out of 179 countries in the press freedom index. However, there are still some issues that should be corrected, according to the annual press freedom index made by Reporters Without Borders organization. Serbia Ranks 63rd on annual press freedom list The report also reads that Serbia ranked 80th in 2011 and in 2012. "Reforms in legislation have brought improvement, but one should not forget that there still is a lot of obstacles and old habits that harm the independent journalist and these should be overcome," the report reads. Of the former Yugoslav republics, only Slovenia ranks better than Serbia does - the country ranks 35th whereas Croatia ranks 64th, right behind Serbia. VIP
