BELGRADE A documentary traveling exhibition dubbed "Gustav Klimt - forerunner of Modernism" will open Sept. 26 at the gallery of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Belgrade. The event is organized to mark the 150th anniversary of the Austrian artist's birth. Documentary exhibition of Gustav Klimt's works Klimt's works reflect the development of art from the Ringstrasse period to the beginnings of abstract painting. The artist's creative contribution and the style he developed paved the way for his younger contemporaries, Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka, the Austrian Cultural Forum said in its announcement. The works of Gustav Klimt and his contemporaries, members of the Vienna Secession and a group of artists in the scope of the Wiener Werkstatte greatly contributed to the appearance of the city of Vienna as it is today.
