GUCA The 52nd Dragacevo Brass Band Festival started on Monday in Guca, western Serbia, is set to last until Sunday, August 12. 50 bands and 500,000 visitors from Serbia and abroad and expected to converge on the village. Guca festival kicks off, 500,000 people expected The festival is a competition of brass bands that play folk music. It is unique in the world and the most important event that focuses on folk art in Serbia. Besides the traditional brass band competition, there will also be a number of other events presenting Serbian folk art and tradition. Visitors will be able to see exhibitions displaying works by Dragacevo seamstresses, paintings and ethnographic history, as well as traditional dances and songs. Since the festival is such a large event, the homes of the residents are open to old and new friends coming from all parts of Serbia, but also from the Serb Republic (RS), Macedonia, Slovenia, Austria, Poland, Germany, France, Hungary and other countries of the globe. Guests will be able to stay at private houses and camps, but also in hotels that are located in the nearby towns of Ivanjica and Pozega. (FoNet) Tanjug
