A fire that broke out in the early hours of Monday caused serious material damage to the building of the theater in the town of Vranje, southern Serbia. According to Serbia's public broadcaster RTS, no casualties have been reported. Theater in southern town heavily damaged in blaze MUP firefighters intervened at 03:50 CET when they received reports that fire had engulfed the building housing the theater and a nearby cafe. They put out the blaze after an hour and a half, but heavy damage was already done to the theater's entrance, hall, stage and roof. The cafe was also destroyed in the fire. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze. The Vranje Theater staged its first play 116 years ago. (Tanjug) RTS
