Nine persons have died from the cold in Serbia, 32 municipalities have declared the state of emergency and 69,700 people have been cut off from the world.

Nine persons have died from the cold in Serbia, 32 municipalities have declared the state of emergency and 69,700 people have been cut off from the world. Interior Ministry Emergency Situations Sector Head Predrag Maric has stated that the authorities will decide during the day whether they will declare the state of emergency in the entire Serbia. Nine people die from cold in Serbia “This will depend on reports from the field,” he explained. He stated that a total of nine persons had died from the cold and that rescue teams were still searching for one missing person. Maric pointed out that more than 550 heavy machines, bulldozers, 1,500 firemen and rescuers, 1,200 members of other services and around 300 medical workers were working on clearing the snow and helping people in distress.
