Snow causes traffic problems across Serbia

Heavy snowfall has caused traffic problems across Serbia, the Automobile Association of Serbia (AMSS) has stated. Highways and major roads are clear but traffic is slow since there is still some wet snow in certain parts of the roads. The most difficult situation is in the area of cities of Uzice and Krusevac. Some regional roads in Novi Pazar and Sjenica are blocked due to high snowdrifts. Situation in mountain areas is difficult and strong winds are causing snowdrifts. 23 people have been rescued in Serbia in the last 24 hours and the authorities will decide in the next 48 hours whether to declare the state of emergency due to cold weather and heavy snowfall. The state of emergency has been declared in 27 Serbian municipalities and the worst situation is in Sjenica. Main streets and highways in Belgrade are mostly clear, including bridges.
