Independent police trade union goes on strike

The Independent Trade Union of Police went on strike on the whole territory of Serbia early on Monday. This was confirmed by the president of the trade union's strike committee, Dejan Djukic. Independent police trade union goes on strike Djukic said that most of the Serbian Ministry's of Interior's (MUP) officers are on strike, adding that only some services, such as the ones in charge of issuance of documents, are working. He announced that the trade union will be on strike until all requests for an urgent improvement of financial position of MUP's employees and payment of all debts for per diem and travel expenses and jubilee prizes for 2009 and 2010 are met. Djukic voiced belief that the trade union's requests will be discussed with authorities during the week.
