This is the 27th title Djokovic has won so far, and the ninth in 2011. At the same time, he became the first world's top player ever since Pete Sampras back in 1993 to score another victory in the Masters ATP immediately after claiming the title of the world's number one. Djokovic lost only one match this year, to Swiss Roger Federer in the Roland Garros semi-final, and scored 53 victories so far.
