Srecko Hadzic, son of the remaining Hague fugitive Goran Hadzic, told B92 on Thursday that he believed his father would know how to make the “right decision”. He claims that no one in the family saw Hadzic or heard any news about him since July 31, 2004 when the former political leader of Serbs in Croatia left home in Novi Sad after the indictment was filed. Son of remaining Hague fugitive interviewed “I assume he wants to protect himself and us by not contacting us. But we do not know a single word about him. Sometimes I wonder if he is alive, but I hope he is”, Srecko Hadzic says. He describes his father as very intelligent, and always one step ahead of everybody. “He knew what he was doing. And now he will know how to make the right decision”, Srecko Hadzic says. He expects that the pressure against the family will increase after Ratko Mladic’s arrest. Hadzic’s son said that the entire family felt imprisoned for seven years because of the constant supervision, but it was not up to him to advise his father to surrender. “After searches, we always go to the police station for questioning and it was made clear to me that I would neither find a job nor finish my studies at the university until he surrendered or was arrested. To put it simple, I am forbidden to work, my human rights are jeopardized, but no one cares because I am the son of a Hague fugitive”, he stated. Srecko Hadzic pointed out he did not believe that the Hague Tribunal was an independent court, and described it as political.
