The Serbian authorities have ordered a ban on public gatherings in Belgrade as security was raised to the highest level in the entire country. All this comes after the arrest on Thursday in northern Serbia of former military leader of Serbs in Bosnia Ratko Mladic. Police acted to prevent rioting in Belgrade, with 35 people arrested for disorderly behavior. In Novi Sad, protesters tried to break in the Radio and Television of Vojvodina premises and those of the ruling Democratic Party. Police prevented them by using force, which left two rioters injured. Last night, some 700 dissatisfied citizens gathered for protests in Belgrade and Novi Sad.

Police acted to prevent rioting in Belgrade, with 35 people arrested for disorderly behavior.
