Serbian tennis players enjoyed a good day on Wednesday at the ongoing French Open Tournament, scoring a number of victories. Novak Djokovic progressed to the third round after Victor Hanescu retired because of injury while trailing 6-4, 6-1, 2-3. "Almost perfect day for Serbs" at French Open World's no. 2 thus gained his 39th consecutive victory since the start of the year. His next opponent will be Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro. Serbia's best female tennis player Jelena Jankovic cruised past Russia's Vera Dushevina 6-3, 6-2 on for a place in the third round. Jankovic will next take on Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States, who defeated her compatriot Varvara Lepchenko 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Janko Tipsarevic will face Roger Federer of Switzerland in the next round. He beat Spaniard Pere Riba in straight sets. Tipsarevic was also successful when he and compatriot Viktor Troicki progressed in the doubles competition, as did Jankovic, who teamed up with Russia's Anastassia Pavlyuchenkova. Only Bojana Jovanovski ended the day in defeat when she and American Varvara Lepchenko were eliminated from further competition.
