A group of citizens from the town of Aleksinac in southern Serbia have begun an initiative for building a monument to late Slobodan Milošević.

A group of citizens from the town of Aleksinac in southern Serbia have begun an initiative for building a monument to late Slobodan Milosevic. The group has gathered 800 citizens’ signatures since July 24 backing the campaign, one of the coordinators, Slavisa Jovanovic, said. Town wants Milosevic monument “By the personal efforts of Milosevic, Aleksinac was rebuilt after the NATO bombing of April 5, 1999, when 11 people died in Aleksinac, and more than 50 were injured," Jovanovic said, and added that a local street in the town was completely destroyed in the attack. The group wants a memorial park built that would include a monument to the victims of the NATO bombing as well. The park would also have a monument to Milosevic and would be named after him.
