International Women’s Day, March 8, will be marked in Serbia with a series of events, aimed at focusing on women’s role in society. Center E 8, which says is promoting healthy lifestyles, will organize “Be a man, gift a flower” campaign. Its goal, the center says, is to "in a fun and educational way send a message to the youth to promote values of non-violent behavior, gender equality and to think about responsible sexual behavior". International Women’s Day marked Meanwhile, the Victimology Society of Serbia will organize a round table entitled, “Weapons and violence in family: How to avoid fatal consequences?”, with the goal to bring the public and experts’ attention to the need for a "timely social reaction" when a woman suffering violence for a long time leaves the abuser. International Women’s Day was established at the Second International Socialist Women's Conference on March 8, 1910 in Copenhagen, at the initiative of German Clara Zetkin, the leader of the women’s labor movement.
