Serbia's Milorad Cavic has won the silver medal in the 100-meter butterfly race at the World Swimming Championships in Rome. Cavic finished in 49.95 seconds to set the new European record. Cavic wins silver, sets European record Michael Phelps of the United States won the gold medal with a new world record of 49.82 seconds. Spain's Rafael Munos came in third with 50.41. This was the first time in history that 100-meters butterfly race was swum in under 50 seconds. Cavic previously won gold in the 50-meter butterfly race at the Rome championships.

Čavić wins silver, sets European record

Michael Phelps of the United States won the gold medal with a new world record of 49.82 seconds.

Spain's Rafael Munos came in third with 50.41.

This was the first time in history that 100-meters butterfly race was swum in under 50 seconds.

Ćavić previously won gold in the 50-meter butterfly race at the Rome championships.
