According to projections from the Statistical Office, in 2017 in Serbia, there will be 1.8 million elderly people in Serbia, making up 25.9 percent of the population. According to those estimates, in 2032, Serbia will have 6.85 million people, 27.2 of whom will be older than 65, and 20.7 under the age of 19. The conference on ageing was organized by the Association for Gerontology and Geriatrics in Serbia, the Geriatric Section of the Serbian Medical Society, the Clinical-Hospital Center Zvezdara and SANU, with support from the Health Ministry.
