The Directorate, Judiciary and Police Union has denounced a recent suspension of six MUP officers. The union issued a statement in Belgrade on Thursday, condemning this move by Police Directorate chief Milorad Veljovic as based not in law, but in "political compromise between the government and opposition". The six policemen suspended last week pending investigation are also facing disciplinary violations charges. They were a part of the force which secured a Serb Radical Party (SRS) rally on July 29 in Belgrade, that turned into rioting.
