After withdrawing it, the Serbian publisher of "The Jewel of Medina" now says the book could be back in the bookstores. Director and editor-in-chief of Beobook publisher Aleksandar Jasic did not rule out this move. "Islam offending" book back on shelves? A daily newspaper has already announced the publication of "the most provocative excerpts from the book", he said. Jasic told B92 TV that he is under pressure by professionals, non-governmental organizations and individuals, who believe that a book can be judged only by its readers. Sherry Jones' "The Jewel of Medina" was withdrawn from bookstores after Chief Mufti of the Islamic Community in Serbia Muamer Zukorlic warned it offended Muslims. Jasic said he "felt concern because of veiled threats in his contacts with Islamic Community spokesman Sead Sacirovic".
